This evening, it is with pain to announce that the scheduled candidates forum for the town of Bay is canceled. With proper coordination and deliberation, it was decided by the PPCRV volunteers of the Parish to cancel the said forum. The St. Augustine Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting of Bay with due consultation to the Commission of the Election of the said municipality along with the Philippine National Police has to cancel the forum scheduled tomorrow at 6:00 in the evening because of lack of security to the candidates and to the people who will attend the said forum.
Security reason because the PNP cannot provide manpower and will power to do so. There is a death threat to one of the mayoralty candidate who belongs to the opposition party. Whether this death threat is unfounded, the very fact that the police force cannot implement the security guidelines presented in the rules and manners that the said forum be conducted such as the assurance that no candidate nor their bodyguard will bring any deadly weapons in the venue of the said forum.
Now, if some of the candidates are afraid to come to this forum, it will defeat the very purpose of its creation. So, let us not waste time as well as others because it will be an exercise in futility.
Second, life is a precious gift of God, I cannot put the lives of the people in danger.
Just my personal opinion, the Chief of the Philippine National Police should be replaced here. Simply because they could not provide the said security
